Outtakes Festival started with the idea of one person who believed that everyone has the ability to be creative. A keen enthusiast of film, he wanted to see others in the local community have an opportunity to create their film, and present it to a community of people who shared the same passion.
That was four years ago, and since then, the Outtakes festival has branched out to a lot of areas of creative abilities, which include Art, Film, Photography, Song and Poetry and with each year we grow stronger and stronger.
The concept of Outtakes is simple. Those who enter need to retell, respond to, reflect on, or make reference to the theme of the festival by using scripture from the Bible. This year, the theme is “connect”. For more on the Event Details, please click here.
Mediums of film, visual arts, photography, song and poetry can be used to express your creative piece of work. Completed applications are then presented at a festival celebration in July. Entries are entitled to win prizes on the evening, with first, second and third places given in each division.
Every member of the Outtakes team believes in the ability of all to be creative. As such, every field of the festival is headed up by people who have a passion for film, visual arts, photography, song and poetry. They will be available in the lead up to the festival celebration by the way of dedicated workshops to their favourite field. In addition, they will be working with others who believe in the purpose of Outtakes, and prepare for the festival celebration.

Winepress Church, whose mission statement is to “Love God, Love Others and Make a Difference,” is impacting the local community through a variety of outreach programs. Their annual Single Parents Christmas Dinner now attracts 140 families, most of these unchurched. Relational courses such as Inspirational Women and Sensational Manhood continue to touch families in Australia and overseas.
With over 90% of attendees actively involved in ministry, Winepress is now providing resources to other churches Australia-wide. This includes the STEPPS program, which is now in up to 50 churches in four states and overseas. This focuses primarily on equipping and releasing people into ministry.
The philosophy of Winepress can be summed up in these words of Arthur & Dani:
“We believe in people. Our part is to help them discover God and His call for them, to connect them in community with each other, and to train and release them to do what God has gifted them to do.
We thank God for His call and are very excited about our part in fulfilling His purpose and growing His kingdom.”
